AND QUEST SHE DID!
The Book Lover Quest for Independent Bookstores is officially over….
And the Grand Prize winner is…..Alexia Dawson from Campbell who turned her form into Kepler’s Books & Magazines on Independent Bookstore Day after her 1,000 mile quest took her throughout Northern California. She visited 44 bookstores spanning Bookshop Santa Cruz to Face in a Book in El Dorado Hills to Sustenance Books in Murphys and hitting San Francisco, the North Bay, the East Bay, and the Peninsula and South Bay. Leaving very few bookstores unvisited it seems. Check out her stamped and signed form above. We should probably hold her up over our heads and twirl her around in celebration that such a book lover exists, but instead we’re sending her the grand prize of $1000 worth of books, hand selected and donated by our participating bookstores. Alexia who started her quest on the 23rdof April said, “I just love independent bookstores and had some time on my hands so I went for it!” Thank you Alexia! And we also discovered that she’s got a degree in library science and looking for work so if you want her email, let us know. This is the kind of employee that anyone would want, somebody who really goes the extra mile. Other bookish prizes are going to five other book loving readers who all visited 10 or more stores. We’ll let you know their names after we do the drawing.
Thank you all participating bookstores for a great promotion. As Christie from Gallery Bookstore in Mendocino reported “The Quest turned out to be a great way to communicate to our customers about the fact that Bookstore Day is everywhere. Our sales were WAY up (over previous excellent Bookstore Day numbers) and it felt like the event had real traction beyond our own efforts.”
